Before you switch
Compare the cost.
Understand the value.
The Business Review Co. helps you find a provider. Your provider agrees and carries out the work.
Sound familiar?
Compare the full cost alongside the work included, the support you receive and the time you still spend doing things yourself.
The annual bill has grown, but you are not sure what has changed in the service or whether the increase reflects what you need.
Software, payroll, tax returns or queries may be charged separately. Look at the total annual cost when comparing options.
You may be paying for a package that no longer fits, or still spending hours on work you thought was covered.
Planning the handover
Before switching accountants, agree who will complete outstanding work and how your records will reach the new provider. Make sure upcoming filing and payroll dates are part of the conversation.
Ask both accountants to confirm the timing, any notice requirements and any separate transfer charges. Your new provider should explain the information and access it needs before work begins.
Talk about switching accountantsBefore you make a move
What is included, who you can speak to and how often you will hear from them.
Ongoing fees, software and any separate charges for catching up or transferring records.
Upcoming deadlines, outstanding work and who will manage each part of the move.
How it works
Start with your current arrangements. Explore an alternative if it could help, then decide whether the fees and service make sense for your business.
Tell us what you pay, if known, which services are included and what you would like to improve. No invoices or financial documents are needed to start.
We look at your costs and requirements, then discuss whether an introduction to an accounting provider could be useful. Any introduction is agreed with you first.
The provider sets out its services, fees and any handover costs. Compare that proposal with your current arrangements, then decide whether to proceed.
Your questions
From fees to switching, here are the questions worth asking before choosing accounting support.
It is worth reviewing your fees if they have risen, extras are unclear or the service no longer fits your business. Compare the full cost for similar work and support, including software and any handover charges. An alternative provider may offer better value, but a review does not mean your current fees are excessive or that switching will save money.
Look at the full annual cost, the services included, who will handle your work and how you can get help. Check whether accounts, tax returns, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and software are included or charged separately. A lower quote is only useful when you understand the differences.
Discuss the timing with both accountants before making a move. Upcoming returns, payroll dates, outstanding work and any notice requirements can affect the handover. Agree who is responsible for each deadline so nothing is left unclear.
Ask the new provider which records and access it needs, and agree how these will be supplied. Check software compatibility and any migration charges before proceeding. Your accountants should explain their roles in the transfer; moving software is not included automatically.
It might, but savings are not guaranteed. Your current service may already be good value, or another provider may offer more suitable support at a similar or higher cost. Compare the scope of work as well as the fee before deciding.
There is no charge for the initial review of your stated costs and requirements with The Business Review Co., and no obligation to switch. This is a starting point for exploring an introduction, not an audit of your accountant’s work or a whole-market price comparison. Accounting work is paid for separately, with fees agreed with the provider. We may receive an introduction fee.
The Business Review Co. is an introduction service. An independent accounting provider agrees its scope and fees with you and carries out the accounting work. Handover responsibilities and timing should be agreed with the accountants involved before you switch.
